the writers: okay um? let’s have a mention of sam being possessed once this season? and let’s never mention the effect these possessions have on his mental health? ever? 

dean: *gets possessed once*

the writers: oh yeah he’s traumatized!!!!! he’s gonna be pushing down his emotions and they’re all gonna come out before the season is over!!!!!

dean’s violence is always justified and/or excused by the fandom (”he is grieving/hurting/ that’s how he shows he cares/ he is worried/well he is right anyway so sam/cas/whoever can take that punch, it’s well deserved”) but the second sam or cas dares to do a percent of the shit dean does, suddenly everyone is breathing down their necks and they are vilified by both the fandom and narrative for ~being in the wrong~
