Inspired by this post by @sweet-sammy-kisses, added to by @spangelbanger. Sully visits Sam in the cage to wait with him for Dean. 1,100 words. Mentions of torture (not graphic). 

He thinks it’s a hallucination at first. It feels like it’s been a week in the makeshift cage, long enough that Lucifer’s sing-song monologue has become a poison comfort. Sam spends hours in flashbacks of flame and blood, so when a crude joke or hot breath on his cheek drags him from the nightmares, he’s almost thankful. 

This is different. The weight of the air and the feel of the bars against his hands are different. Through the gaps, he can see the abandoned vials and dry bones in the dust. He’s not in the Cage. He’s in a cage, and he has to say no, keep saying it.

Sam starts talking to himself, just to remind himself why, and at some point he begins to hear voices–Dean’s voice calling to him in the distance, then Castiel’s, even though he knows they’re not here.  

That’s why he’s sure he’s hallucinating when a warm hand settles on his cheek and lifts his chin. He looks up into eyes wet with tears under close-cropped dirty-blond hair and sighs.

“Sully,” he informs the man. “You’re not real.”

Dean had no clue how it happened all he did was look away for one second and when he looked back the first one was there. 

“Sam, what is that?” Dean asked giving Sam a pointed look.

A sheepish smile appeared on Sam’s face before it was replaced by Sam’s famous puppy dog look. “It just appeared out of nowhere crying. I think it’s lost and we can’t leave it alone what if one of the big ones get it?” Sam pointed out.

Dean knew what Sam was trying he knew that look well too many times Sam had used that look and he had caved. ‘Well, not this time.’ Dean vowed crossing his arms over his chest. “Sam, it’s a baby dinosaur what do you think will happen when it’s parents coming looking for it!” 

A dejected sigh escaped Sam’s lips he knew Dean was right but as he looked into the baby triceratops eyes it looked so sad. “But Dean what if it doesn’t have any parents can we really leave it alone?” 

Dean didn’t know what to do as he was pinned with twin puppy dog eyes as the freaking baby dinosaur copied Sam’s look. 

And that was how Dean found himself sharing a cave with Sam and Sam’s baby triceratops.

“Umm Dean?” 

Instantly on guard Dean nearly fell as he looked up to the entrance of the cave where Sam stood with four more baby dinosaurs all around him. 

“They followed me home.” Sam gave a small shrug at Dean’s growl. “Can I keep them?”
