that is an excellent question and the perfect thign to keep me occupied during this slow ass day at work
if sam is super evil and super in to being a demon and wreaking havoc and all of that, then i generally envision him not with a crown, but with some sweet ram horns instead, not just bc of the obvious demon aesthetic but also because of the association w pagan gods of chaos and debauchery (mostly greek ones bc hell yeah) (i did write something once where sam made his crown out of crowley’s actual skull after a big takeover, but i can’t find it, rest assured it was an awesome idea)
if sam is Less into being super evil and is still the sweet little peach he is at heart, despite resigning himself to ruling hell, then he gets a crown of thorns, for obvious reasons – this is my go-to, again, for really obvious reasons
IF sam is topside but still the king of hell, no crown bc he doesn’t want to draw attention to himself, but he flashes black/golden eyes depending on the situation
for historical aus, because of course i have them, the crown is appropriate to the time period it’s set in. this is just who i am as a person. for the roman au (bc yes of course he’s the boy king in the roman au) it’s a crown of laurels. if it’s a medieval au, it’s gonna be boxy. 18th century au??? something real fuckin flamboyant. modern?? Minimalist and Manly. futuristic ????? probably a hologram he can flick on and off
dont’ get me fucking started on color/jewels/heraldry bc i can and will talk forever unless someone physically shuts me up
tl;dr it changes from au to au depending on how reluctant sam is to take up the position
and also the style of crowns in that time periodxoxo thanks anon this was fun 🙂
