So… on the one hand, it’s wonderful to see Jack getting attention and being observant and adorable, but on the other, Sam has literally been nothing more than a prop the whole episode, so. It kinda sucks. You could replace him with a sexy lamp and nothing would change.
Cas annoying a cosmic being so much he got rid of him is the most believable part of SPN tbh
Excuse me, SPN writers. I’m afraid you forgot to air the lingering shot on Sam’s tearful face when he realized his close friend was restored to life. Don’t worry. It’s an honest mistake. Totally understandable. Just FIX IT RIGHT THE HELL NOW.
Concept: What if Sam was my sweet awkward child who attempted to comfort his brother and unsurprisingly prioritized Dean’s wellbeing over his own (that salt circle was a bit small for two) and asked about how Dean was doing but like… the writers also allowed people to ask how Sam was doing. And Sam got to answer. And the show let us see how being the hopeful one frays at him. Like what if Sam supported people but also got supported in return? I know. Wild.
Dean telling Sam “don’t pretend you actually care about him” pissed me off. Sam is treating Jack the way DEAN should have treated Sam. Sam is not using Jack. He’s trying to help him. And yeah maybe if he can help him control his powers, he can see if he can get Mary back. But Sam is not the type of person to just simply use people to get what he wants. He is genuinely trying to save Jack.
dean’s violence is always justified and/or excused by the fandom (”he is grieving/hurting/ that’s how he shows he cares/ he is worried/well he is right anyway so sam/cas/whoever can take that punch, it’s well deserved”) but the second sam or cas dares to do a percent of the shit dean does, suddenly everyone is breathing down their necks and they are vilified by both the fandom and narrative for ~being in the wrong~
