The look people get on their face when you say you don’t like Castiel. They are so shocked. Like sorry, he ain’t that special. Then they’re like “why don’t you like him?” and I give my list: Castiel broke Sam’s hell wall, lied to the brothers, let Lucifer out, let the Leviathan’s out. He’s responsible for Bobby getting killed, Kelly getting killed, hundreds of Angels murdered at his hands. Blank looks on their face. I swear the show does a real good job of erasing Castiel’s part in the blame of “EVERYTHING” that people have to actually remember his guilty part in the act.
I’ve always thought the problem with Castiel is that a lot of people came to him through the very cute fan art and the wildly out of character fanfiction (for both him and Dean). The people that “love” him have this warped view that isn’t based on any reality in the canon on the show. If you like someone and have the view they are a cute snowflake that needs to be protected, you are going to be a lot more forgiving of their faults (or possibly not even see their faults at all.) The reverse is also true, where fandom paints a character in a bad light (*cough* Sam Winchester *cough*), you will view that character unfavourably and look for faults while watching, regardless of the reality of their actions on screen.

KENTUCKY FRIED B-HOLE
Of course Sam would feel that way and it makes sense with the way he thinks and acts but honestly, Dean and Cas did way more harm to Sam than good when it came to helping him accept himself and his powers and I will forever be pissed about Sam (and the show and fandom) acting like they actually supported him
if the bmol lay a single fucking finger on Garth, Claire, Jody, Alex, or anyone else the Winchesters care about I will lose it
