↳ favorite storyline: The Trials
You used to read to me, um, when I was little, I— I mean, really little, from that— from that old, uh… Classics Illustrated comic book. You remember that? No.
Knights of the Round Table. Had all of King Arthur’s knights, and they were all on the quest for the Holy Grail. And I remember looking at this picture of Sir Galahad, and, and, and he was kneeling, and— and light streaming over his face, and— I remember… thinking, uh, I could never go on a quest like that. Because I’m not clean. I mean, I w— I was just a little kid. You think… maybe I knew? I mean, deep down, that— I had… demon blood in me, and about the evil of it, and that I’m— wasn’t pure?
It doesn’t matter anymore. Because these trials… they’re purifying me.
Hey! Just wondering what your favorite AUs are? Please and thank you:)
I got you!
So, some of these weren’t exactly AU when written but definitely could be considered so now!
The Ballad of The Invisible boy by dollylux (57490 | E | Complete )
This is a story of adolescence. This is a love letter for the slow burn, for Led Zeppelin, for the 90s. This is the first of two sets of stories about how Sam and Dean didn’t fall in love. They never had to. It was always there, this desperation between them, like a real, breathing thing. When they came together, it was inevitable. As sure as continents colliding, as the phases of the moon and the life and death of stars. This isn’t a love story, but it’s a story of love.
Brother’s Blood Series by diana_lucifera, stormageddon (107899 | T | Complete)
When Dean goes missing on a hunt in New Orleans, John picks Sam up from Stanford to help look for him. (Pilot AU)
The Psychology of Genetic Sexual Attraction by sonofabiscuit77 (48,529 | E | complete )
This story begins in 2001 in a garage in Palo Alto when 18-year old Stanford student, Sam Sharma plucks up the courage to ask car mechanic, Dean Cooper, out for a cup of coffee. Their attraction is instantaneous and overwhelming, and the relationship that develops seems perfect. Except nothing is really perfect, and this particular love story started a long time before Sam and Dean even met.
Taking the Fifth by astolat (11372 | E | complete )
“Dean Winchester?” Sam said. “I’m Sam Moore. I’m your lawyer.” (AU inspired by 2×07, The Usual Suspects)
On the Dodge by candle_beck (39660 | E | Complete )
There’s no official summary for this one but it’s honestly so good. It’s based a little bit on butch cassidy and the sundance kid!
Everything I Want Is Nothing But You by mickeym (12200 | E | Complete )
He swore last winter he wasn’t going to trick any more, but it’s hard to pay the rent on just tending bar.
and one of my absolute fave au’s (this used to have some lovely artwork with it, but unfortunately the links are broken 😦 )
We Know Each Other As We Always Were by mickeym (45,475 | M | Complete )
In 1941, while the world is at war, Sam Winchester falls in love with his brother. They’re young, they’re in love, and in spite of the hardships of life around them, the world is a pretty good one for them. Until Dec. 7th, 1941, when Japan launches an air attack on Pearl Harbor, sending the US to war against Japan. Dean Winchester feels he needs to join the Army; needs to help fight the good fight and help save lives. He promises he’ll return, but can he keep that promise?
there’s a peacefulness and rage inside us all
I love the way Donna talks sm omg
No Mourning Allowed for Sam Winchester
Has anyone else noticed that Sam is almost never given the time to mourn?
Dean is always the one dealing with pent-up sadness, drinking down his depression and working off any issues he has. But Sam is forever placed in the role of the one to comfort Dean and get him back on his feet. (This is like a total change from the earlier seasons, when Dean was always in the role of caretaker.)
But whenever anyone close to the Winchesters dies, it’s always Sam who has to be the one to look forward. Like, always.
When Eileen was killed, we didn’t even get so much as a one full scene for Sam to mourn. The most we got was about a two second shot of Sam looking at her body with a sad expression. And that’s it. Nothing was even verbally expressed. It’s been the same this season so far with Cas gone.
It’s frustrating to me that Dean is the only one who’s allowed to show mourning. Sure, he’s not talking about it, but there have been so many visual cues that let us know he is. With Sam, not so much.
Why isn’t Sam Winchester allowed to be sad?
